Maintenance Manager

S. Reynolds is under contract with a major transportation company located in Hoboken, NJ specializing in the Tourism Industry seeking a Maintenance Manager for their fleet of Buses.



  • Participates in progressive discipline and hiring and/or termination of said staff
  • Plans, directs, and monitors preventive maintenance and repair programs for all Company vehicles.
  • Apprises General Manager and Vice President about fleet performance and costs. Makes presentations and prepares reports for the General Manager and Vice President as requested.
  • Contributes and guides others to understanding and supporting our cost-conscious culture.
  • Performs justification and life cycle cost analyses; performs trend analyses for various vehicle performance and maintenance issues and related expenses.
  • Supports and contributes to the development and success of warranty and policy programs for recovery of expenses.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of standard operating procedures for vehicle maintenance using known best practices.
  • Assists in the direction of departmental activities in budget cycle requirements.
  • Reviews and makes recommendations on scope of work and specifications for major procurements related to fleet maintenance.
  • Directs compliance with or assists in the establishment of programs, policies, and procedures to attract, develop, and retain a competent and motivated workforce, including but not limited to recruiting, hiring, training, performance management, counseling, grievances, and appeals.
  • Assures timely and assertive responses to inspection findings, working closely with Company Safety and DOT compliance managers.
  • Assists in the development and leadership of short-and-long-range planning activities covering all aspects of fleet maintenance operations.
  • Ensures timely and accurate responses to General Manager and Vice President initiatives and directives.
  • Follow all required work safe practices. confined space safety, safe chemical handling, fall restraints, etc.
  • Ensures compliance with all company policies and procedures. 
  • Engages in the typical responsibilities of a manager requiring planning, evaluating, organizing, integrating, and controlling.
  • Has management responsibility involving staffing, conducting performance appraisals, training and developing subordinates, promotions, salary increases, terminations, disciplinary actions, payroll supervision etc.
  • Creates and implements a Bi annual Pick (represented employees) and the schedule for all non-represented employees in the shop.
  • Responsible for all first level hearings in the shop as well as union issues related to the shop personnel.

Director of Recruiting and Retention for Drivers

This position will be based in our Corporate HQ in Dallas, TX. This position reports to the Vice President of Human Resources and is responsible for developing and implementing strategic recruiting plans, best practices and programs to achieve our aggressive growth plans while having oversight of all recruiting and retention efforts for Capacity across the country. This position will also be responsible for managing our 3rd party leasing process and ensuring hiring compliance with all corporate policy, federal DOT regulations and state and local law. Ensures each operating center has enough capacity, drivers and contractors, to support business needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Partners with Operations in response to staffing requirements, responsible for developing and managing highly effective processes to attract and hire company drivers and owner operators
• Ensures recruiting programs meet business needs, comply with legal and regulatory requirements as well as competitive best practices
• Manages the comprehensive recruitment process to ensure ongoing pipeline of qualified drivers
• Partners with HR to continually improve plans, programs, and processes in order to proactively control expenses, increase value, and promote highly effective recruiting processes
• Ensures attainment of targeted metrics relative to quality of hire, cost per hire, time-to-fill, turnover data to develop recruitment/retention strategies that will increase retention
• Provides strategic recruiting expertise by staying abreast of industry trends, best practices, legal developments, technological advancements and benchmark comparisons: functions as subject matter expert
• Counsels staff on staffing and recruitment policies and procedures to ensure compliance and understanding of hiring guidelines
• Oversees all 3rd party leasing and hiring activities ensuring all necessary operational support is received
• Oversees the advertising process, media buying and ad spend
• Supports the ‘Greatstart’ first time Owner-Operator program – converting company drivers to O/ops
• Ensures compliance of all new hire files related to the qualification, leasing and orientation process as required by corporate policy, federal DOT regulations and state and local law
• Hires, trains, manages, regularly evaluates performance and counsels assigned staff. Ensures proper orientation of staff into the organization

Requirements / Qualifications (Skills and Education):
• Bachelors Degree or equivalent managerial experience and training
• 10-15 years of professional work experience with a minimum of 5 years experience as a manager in the transportation industry with recruiting responsibilities
• Outstanding analytical, communication, negotiation, collaboration, presentation, and project management skills
• Executive presence, professional demeanor, and strong business acumen
• Results oriented and focused on continuous process improvement
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities, meet deadlines and work well under pressure

This position serves as the key interface and coordinator between warehouse and office operations.
